Senior Director, Accounting & Finance for a Leading Cosmetics Company

Description : Our client is a popular and very fast-growing cosmetics company that uses only clean, non-toxic ingredients. They are headquartered in Los Angeles and experiencing rapid growth. They are seeking a Senior Director, Accounting & Finance to support timely and effective GAAP-compliant financial reporting and to work closely and collaboratively with all internal teams. The ideal candidate will strive towards a continuous  improvement mindset, understand the underlying business and its sales and profitability drivers, and propose process  improvements to streamline workflow, improve timelines, and identify and assist in assessing cost improvements.

Responsibilities:
- Implement and lead development of a strong accounting team with clear roles and responsibilities
- Create a team culture that is collaborative and fun to work in
- Supervise and lead month-end close process and lead team to create work papers, draft financials, budget vs actual analyses, and monthly bank reporting
- Improve month end close process to five business days or better
- Partner with business teams to develop a robust Chart of Accounts and management reporting package to enable proper visibility into the financial results and sound strategic and financial decision making
- Lead documentation of accounting policies based on GAAP principles; research and apply FASB ASCs where needed
- Evaluate revenue recognition policies and ensure compliance with FASB ASC 606
- Manage inventory accounting and ensure quality of reporting of cost of goods sold and gross margin, physical-to-perpetual inventory reconciliations, month end cutoff testing, and bill-of-materials / assembly build accuracy; implement a sound inventory reserve policy
-  Lead the company through its first annual audit process
-  Manage banking relationships and cash flow projections alongside COO
- Interface with outside CPAs on income tax, state and local taxes, sales tax registrations, and other compliance matters
- Partner with cross functional teams on process improvements
- Lead Netsuite optimization projects

Qualifications:
- CPA + four years public accounting experience in a regional or national firm, required
- BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance
- Netsuite experience is critical, plus Advanced Excel, Google Gsuite, Powerpoint
- Deep understanding of accounting for manufacturing inventory
- Collaborative and trustworthy character
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively at one time and work in a fast based environment
- Experience in cosmetics or CPG industry preferred; passion for clean beauty a plus!
