VP of Operations and Business Development

Description :
Our client is a high-tech corporation specializing in electromechanical, electronic, and microelectronic systems and components for the aerospace industry. They are seeking a forward-thinking, innovative VP of Operations and Business Development to lead their Space and Defense business unit. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical and business knowledge, an established network, and experience in securing projects in both the government and private sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and establish relationships with potential clients, outlining the ways in which the business’ products and services can fit customers’ unique needs
- Collaborate with leadership and technical teams to develop proposals for securing contracts and projects
- Remain in close contact with internal groups, keeping stakeholders appraised of any developments throughout the negotiation and proposal process
- Maintain long term relationships with clients, anticipating future issues or needs and participating in site visits as needed
- Define the scope and develop project plans for each project, taking into account input from functional groups, sponsors, project leaders, and other key team members
- Oversee program management for projects, ensuring coordination between stakeholders and successful delivery of finished product
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, business, or similar field, required (PhD or other advanced degree a plus)
- 10+ years’ experience in the aerospace and defense industry in a business development or similar role
- Experience securing contracts in both government and private sectors
- Experience at a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company strongly preferred
- Ability to reconcile complex technical information with overall business needs and vision
- Leadership skills and successful track record of bring complex projects across the finish line
- Strong problem solving, negotiation, and analytical skills
